This quilt block shows a very colorful square building. The flat rectangular roof is a deep green fabric with a light green sign in the middle of it with writing in blue pen, "Pet Store." Below that the building is a light teal blue. In the upper left of the building is the word in blue pen, "Polly's" in cursive. On the left is an orange door with a rounded top. To the right is a large light yellow window with an orange trim on the bottom. In the window is a fairly detailed parrot sitting on a perch. The parrot is a deep blue with a yellow beak and light brown wings.

Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan-Claire Mayfield. This is day two hundred and sixty-four of that project.

Polly’s Pet Store is owned by Polly.

Polly has hair the color of a macaw: bright blues, yellow and red. Her hair stands up on her head like feathers.

When you enter the door, there is a giant parrot on the right. Invariably, new customers will say, “Are you Polly?”

The parrot, whose name is Fred, has learned to answer, “No, dumbass, my name’s Fred.” At this point, Polly will swing into view and scold Fred.

She gives a warm invite to her visitors. Polly specializes in birds; she feels they are “her people.”

The shop is immaculate and incredibly colorful, all from her fabulous birds.
