Tina's Fabric Nook

Tina, owner of Fabric Nook, stands smiling behind the shop’s cutting table. Shelves of colorful fabrics, quilting supplies, and notions fill the background, creating a warm and creative sewing atmosphere.

Tina Holley is a talented, vivacious, and well-loved woman in the community. She is a widow, mother, and grandmother. She is a 3rd generation ranching wife whose family roots in Grand County date back to the 1940s. She has four adult sons and six precious grandchildren. Tina wears many hats. She added another “hat” when she purchased the Fabric Nook from her kindergarten teacher in 2015.

Tina has been sewing for over 45 years. She is a self-taught expert at everything she chooses to do. She began her creative journey as a garment maker in middle school by designing and creating her own clothes. Later on, she took apart clothes from thrift stores and put them back together in order to improve her construction and alteration skills. She also worked part-time at the Fabric Nook, learning the business side of the industry. Tina had many private clients seeking her out to alter their wedding dresses and design consultation. In addition to her sewing expertise, she also knits, crochets, and is an award-winning quilter.

As a visionary and an artist with an eye for color and design, Tina is passionate about guiding customers in achieving their personal and creative goals. She has a nurturing and entertaining personality, which makes her an excellent teacher, able to assist others in the creative process of constructing a quilted heirloom or project. Her goal is to empower and help make everyone’s idea a beautiful reality they can feel great about.

Sew A Season

"You Melt My Heart" - 2024 Row By Row is here!
Purchase on Etsy

Image

This year's theme is Sew A Season. I chose Winter for my season. Our design features a father-son snowpeople "moment" titled "You Melt My Heart." It reminds me of the way my husband looked at our boys when they were little. Now, my sons look at their sons and daughter the same way. This is the easiest design I've ever made, and of course, it's pre-cut.

What's New With Us

For 2026 we have a new block-of-the-month [BOM]: Hyperion!

We’ve chosen the selection for 2026, and we are SUPER EXCITED!

Image

The Hyperion BOM kicked off in February, and it’s a stunner. This beautiful quilt is made with bright and vibrant Riley Blake Expressions Batiks, guaranteed to chase those winter blahs right out the door.

Everything comes neat in a sturdy project box and is completely ready to go. All the materials together, nothing extra to hunt down. The full program is $220. Classes will be held on the third Wednesday of each month.

Good news: we still have a few kits available in the shop!

Also, Asher, who has actually been run over by a herd of sheep, is setting up a Facebook group just for the Hyperion BOM. It’ll be the place to find updates, ask questions, and share your progress with fellow stitchers as we go along.

It’s going to be a fun one, and I can’t wait to see these quilts come together.

The Fabric Nook is located in the historic town of Granby, Colorado, in one of its original buildings, dating back to the early 1900s.

Over the years, this location has been used as a pool hall, dress shop, music store, furniture store, and fabric shop. In the 1940s, during its pool hall days, the tiny back storage room was a shower room.

The pool hall owner sold showers to the men living in nearby camps who were building the Granby Dam. Today, the building still has its original pine floor and high ceilings, which gives the store a welcoming open feeling.

Tina supports the community extensively by donating to the local sewing programs, sponsoring students and giving to all of the fund raisers for non-profits in the county. The community feels a deep connection in return to the long history of the Fabric Nook and to Tina and the people she has touched over the years. Everyone who walks through the door is given the attention they deserve and whatever advice they want.
