Tina's Fabric Nook

Tina Holley is a talented, vivacious, and well-loved woman in the community. She is a widow, mother, and grandmother. She is a 3rd generation ranching wife whose family roots in Grand County date back to the 1940s. She has four adult sons and six precious grandchildren. Tina wears many hats. She added another “hat” when she purchased the Fabric Nook from her kindergarten teacher in 2015.

Tina has been sewing for over 45 years. She is a self-taught expert at everything she chooses to do. She began her creative journey as a garment maker in middle school by designing and creating her own clothes. Later on, she took apart clothes from thrift stores and put them back together in order to improve her construction and alteration skills. She also worked part-time at the Fabric Nook, learning the business side of the industry. Tina had many private clients seeking her out to alter their wedding dresses and design consultation. In addition to her sewing expertise, she also knits, crochets, and is an award-winning quilter.

As a visionary and an artist with an eye for color and design, Tina is passionate about guiding customers in achieving their personal and creative goals. She has a nurturing and entertaining personality, which makes her an excellent teacher, able to assist others in the creative process of constructing a quilted heirloom or project. Her goal is to empower and help make everyone’s idea a beautiful reality they can feel great about.

Grand Hopping Summer

2023 Row By Row is here!
Image

Our Row by Row, "Hopping Grand Summer," celebrates summer wildflowers in the Colorado Mountains. Designed by Tina Holley, this Row is a raw edge fusible design, and the kits are all precut from beautiful batiks. A riot of color featuring Bluebells, Indian Paintbrush, Blanket Flower, Flax, Shooting Star, and Columbine. Baby bunnies are in the grass, and a mole is poking up, looking for a worm. Our beautiful mountain skyline anchors the design.

First, our pieced choice is from designer Doug Leko. The pattern is Chatsworth. We are kitting it all in rich grunge colors from Moda, 48, to be exact. There is a choice of background fabrics to consider. Size is 74” x 88” without borders. This is a 12-month BOM at a cost of $20 / month. You will receive all of your fabrics and pattern in the first month. Classes and help are available every month. There is a registration fee of $20 at sign-up. If you elect to pay monthly, the registration fee applies to the 12th month, but if you pay the total upfront, it’s $220, giving you one month free.

Our second BOM is a combination of fusible appliqué and piecing. This 12-month BOM is from the Wander Lane pattern series. There are a couple of ways to go with this one. Each month, you will receive pre-cut pieces, fabrics, and buttons to complete a 30” x 30” wall hanging, or, if you prefer, you can use your pieces to combine into a full-size quilt at the end of the year. Below is a sample of the wall hanging and the full-size quilt. Registration for this treasure is $40 and will again be applied to the 12th month. The continuing cost is $40 / month.

April 2024

Spring is racing forward! 3 months of the year are gone already!

My head is spinning.

We will be closed April 22nd - 25th. We are going to a quilt retreat! For those of you who are going to the retreat, we will have our Pop-Up Shop again. So be sure to stop by and see what we have. If you do make a purchase, it would be very helpful to us if you paid with cash or a check. If you wish to use a card, we will record your information and charge you when we return to the shop. Additionally, everyone with a rewards card with us will have it punched on our return.

On June 1st, we are sponsoring a class by Kate Colleran. Her class will be on her Tropical Moon pattern. I recommend checking her out at katecollerandesigns.com. I know people who have taken her class and have gotten glowing reports on what a great teacher she is and how much they learned from her. The class is from 9:00 - 4:00 and will cost $65.00. It will be at St. John's Episcopal Church in Hick's Hall. I will have supply lists, patterns, and templates. If you are interested, please let us know: 970-887-2005.

Lots of scheduling changes to our regular routine this month.

May 2024

I'm coming to you early this time,
SURPRISE!

Several factors influenced my decision to send this so early. The biggest one is to let you know that the Fabric Nook will be closed on Mondays for the remainder of April and through May. This is a slow time for us here, so I am taking advantage of a second day off in the week.

I hope this isn’t going to cause anyone too much inconvenience.

Also, this is a reminder that
we will be closed April 22nd—25th
so that we can all go on retreat.

Here is what will be happening in the coming weeks.

The Fabric Nook is located in the historic town of Granby, Colorado, in one of its original buildings, dating back to the early 1900s.

Over the years, this location has been used as a pool hall, dress shop, music store, furniture store, and fabric shop. In the 1940s, during its pool hall days, the tiny back storage room was a shower room.

The pool hall owner sold showers to the men living in nearby camps who were building the Granby Dam. Today, the building still has its original pine floor and high ceilings, which gives the store a welcoming open feeling.

Tina supports the community extensively by donating to the local sewing programs, sponsoring students and giving to all of the fund raisers for non-profits in the county. The community feels a deep connection in return to the long history of the Fabric Nook and to Tina and the people she has touched over the years. Everyone who walks through the door is given the attention they deserve and whatever advice they want.
