Block-A-Day 138 – The Cement Truck
Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan Claire. This is day one hundred and thirty-eight of that project.

I am fascinated by cement trucks.
They have an almost magical quality to me. I’ve always found it amazing that they can spin while driving down the road.
For me, it’s akin to patting your head and rubbing your stomach simultaneously. The most memorable image I have of a cement truck happened in 1992.
My oldest son had just gotten his driving permit at the DMV, and I told him he could drive home (a few blocks).
He was learning in my big old red mercury station wagon that everyone called The Ark.
When we turned onto our county road, a cement truck was coming, and being his first left turn, he turned a little too much.
It looked like we were going to drive into the cement truck. He corrected, and we missed it, but it sure made an impression on mom.
Shortly after, I found a driving instructor that ultimately taught all my kids to drive.
I traded a hog for each one.
It worked out well for everybody.
