Block-A-Day 362 – The Fancy Tractor

She has a little dump wagon she can haul manure, soil, and rocks in. She tills the garden with it and the garden has never been better. Mom’s thrilled for the chance to use her little rig and uses it even when doesn’t need to.
Mom was visiting with her sister and couldn’t see us out the window. Something scared us, most likely a big spider because that was a major threat as far as I was concerned. We jumped in the compartment and I slammed the door! Uh oh! It didn’t take me long to know we were in trouble.
When that faithful old truck finally wheezed its last, Jim was ready to buy that new rig. Tomorrow you’ll see the horse trailer that goes with it. Now he’s ready to rodeo in style with his wife, Shawna, and the kids.
It doesn’t have power steering or power brakes and just nearly bounces the sense out of you when you have to use it. We use it to spread manure and drag fields now. I will be really sad when his time is over on the farm.
I am not a camper. I don’t sleep in a tent, I don’t cook over fire, I don’t poop in the woods. But… I think I might like camping with electricity, a bed with sheets, a bathroom and hot water, you know glamping.
Mary’s parents put their spare change in a jar in the kitchen just for the ice cream truck. She would climb up on the step stool and put her fist into the jar and count out the amount she’d need for 2 small cones.
I have ridden on the back of a few motorcycles for short outings. I found it fun and thrilling. Also a little scary. I could never drive a motorcycle. I can’t even control a bicycle! I would certainly be a danger to myself and others.
Actually, here in the mountains the delivery people are our lifeline. I get deliveries several times a week at the store that keep us supplied with what we need. When my kids were little they thought Santa Claus looked like the UPS man.
You could hit the road and pick up other like-minded hippies along the way. Go to the next Grateful Dead concert or head up to Woodstock.
