Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan Claire. This is day nineteen of that project.

This quilt block shows a blue building with a faucet coming out of the top column. It is labeld "Wood's Plumbing" and has a tall dark door and a two yellow windows.

Oh I love this block.  How clever this funny little building is.  The spigot out the side is hysterical.

It’s called WOOD’S PLUMBING because there was a plumber that lived right down the street from us until just a few years ago who’s name was Woods.  He was a very good plumber and a really nice guy. Always had a smile and laughed easily.

My late husband thought a lot of him and when we built our home he and Scott (my husband) did the plumbing.  His wife wore stylish hats and he always had a poodle.

This block made me think of my husband too because he treated our town’s water for 32 years.  I thought this would make a perfect water treatment building.

Think how this building would fit into a Dr. Suess story.  A hose could attach to the spigot and water could come out and put out fires.

Can you tell four of my young grandchildren live with me?
