This quilt block shows an ornamental pot with a small spruce tree planted in it. The pot itself is a polka-dotted rust orange, with darker spots, and is shaped like a classic vase you would find in a greek garden. There is crossed stitches around its rim near the base of the tree. The small tree has stitches across it cutting it into sections as the green splotchy fabric tapers thinner towards the top. This is all against a blue salmon-patterned background.

Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan Claire. This is day one hundred and eighty-one of that project.

This square reminds me of when my oldest son was very small.

When he was a year old, I had a little spruce tree about 3 feet tall in a pot that we decorated for his Christmas tree.

It was cute, and we left lights and ornaments on until spring, when we planted it in our front yard.

My son will be 45 this year, and that tree is now over 20 feet tall.

I no longer live where the tree does, but I drive by it daily.
