Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan Claire. This is day one hundred and fifty-five of that project.

This quilt block shows a yellow taxi cab from the side against a light blue salmon-patterned background. The taxi is a bright yellow fabric, with light gray fabrics for the windows, windshield, and fenders. There is a light yellow sign on top that has the word

This is the sole TAXI in town.

It hangs out at the train station and the airport, depending on whether it’s time for a train or a plan to come in.

Vinnie drives the cab. There hasn’t always been a TAXI in That Town. Vinnie used to live in Trenton, where he operated a cab for 30 years.

When he retired, he and his cab moved to our little town. Now Vinnie drives when he feels like it.

He likes his life, and everybody likes Vinnie. He has a story for everything.

Sometimes people will take a ride in Vinnie’s cab just to hear a story or joke for the day.

We are looking at it from the side. There are two big black wheels with two large colored two-holed buttons for the axles. One button is pink and one is orange. The truck is tall, and has a side window where orders can be placed. The windows is a lighter yellow and has writing on it with all the flavors. Next to the window are decals of ice cream cones. On the side of the truck under the window are the words, "Cones Sundaes Shakes Malts - non-dairy too!" The top of the truck has a white sign that reads, "Mary's Ice Cream - Yum." There are little notes in the air in the upper right part of the truck to show that it's making music.Block-A-Day 240 – Mary’s Ice Cream Truck
