Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan Claire. This is day thirty-two of that project.

This is an older part of town. The houses have been here a long time. This little house has been lovingly cared for by the same family for 42 years. Bob and Mary have always followed a strict maintenance schedule, and it shows.

Their house is the one that always looks the freshest; it just got an updated color of paint last season, looking cheerful and clean. Bob and Mary are the same way, always a smile and kind words for everyone they meet and especially for each other. Retired now, Bob was an elementary school principal, and Mary taught piano lessons.

They raised three daughters here and now enjoy having their grandchildren after school and for the occasional overnight. The flower gardens are Bob’s, as it seems he can grow anything.

There is a huge vegetable garden out back behind the house. Mary’s passion is quilting. Her best friends are her quilting buddies, and she often attends retreats with them. She’s thinking about doing a flower garden quilt as a surprise for Bob’s birthday.

Content where they are, they can’t imagine living any place else.
