Block-A-Day 256 – The Mysterious House

Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan-Claire Mayfield. This is day two hundred and fifty-six of that project.

This corner quilt block shows a patch of dark green fabric in the bottom right corner. The fabric is topped at the edge with bright yellow/gold stitching. There are two brown posts on the grass. Attached to each post is a chain that is holding up a white sign with the word

A long private drive, a mysterious house, a reclusive resident, and a chained driveway.

The person who lives here has been a mystery for decades. There is a legend that the person is a man that has been holed up in his big creaky house since he was a child. His parents were killed in an accident in the Bermuda triangle.

A loyal nurse and cook have cared for him and been his companions and teachers. All of this, of course, is speculation because NO ONE has EVER seen the occupants.

Delivery drivers are the only ones who ever go down the driveway, but even they are stopped short of the house. There is an offloading area where everything is left.

Now, even I am curious about who is in there.

This quilt block shows a yellow building with a brown roof (and door). On the fabric written in blue pen is a logo showing trees, mountains, and a river, and the words, "General Store" along the outside circumference.Block-A-Day 275 – River Run’s General Store This quilt block shows a large just about square building. The main building material is a single large duotone polka dotted fabric (the dots being scattered and random). There are many smaller square windows outlined with an orange fabric, while inside they are a solid brown. They're each outlined by stitching. There is a light fixture above the middle door drawn in pen. The door is in the middle and is also outlined in an orange fabric. There are two signs, each detailed and colorful. On the left is a blue, black, and white sign with mountains on it and thew words, Block-A-Day 282 – New-2-U And Never Summer Brewing This quilt block shows a structure, a building, with one side larger than the other. It's a squat brown building with slats of wood making up the walls. These are indicated by white stitching outlining each slat. There is a giant sliding wooden door with a rail jutting out to the larger side for it. The sliding door is a dark green, along with the roof of the shed. This is all against a light blue salmon-patternd background as usual.Block-A-Day 356 – Mom’s Shed
