On the farm, we compost all our animal waste. We use deep wood chip bedding and with the animals turning it all the time it composts right under their feet and wonderful compost is made.

This quilt block is a corner block. it has a dark green patch of grass in the bottom left corner. On that patch of grass is a basket. The basket is a brown fabric with a lot of pen marks on it in a hatched design to make it look like a weaved basket. Inside the basket are several vegetables. There are carrots, cucumbers, lettuce, and a red pepper each with corresponding colored fabric. Coming out from the center of the basket is a stick that's holding up a detailed sign that has written in black, "Harvest Sale."

Eggs for sale! This is a constant theme at the farm. Sisu farms produces brown shelled eggs which are generally larger than white shelled eggs.

This quilt block shows a seasonal snocone stand. The top of the snocone stand has giant fake snocones coming out the top. They are pink and look like ice cream cones. Below that is a yellow canopy with a frill at the end. Then there are boards forming an H that are brown. Below the middle board is the front of the stand, which is a darker yellow than the frill. On the front is a picture of a wave in a circle, and underneath that the words in black pen, "Tropical Sno"

This summer we were happy with the addition of a snow cone booth. In the parking lot of the new bagel shop and dental office is Tropical Snow. They have a new summertime booth with yummy flavors. They have some amazing flavor combinations.

This quilt block shows a large just about square building. The main building material is a single large duotone polka dotted fabric (the dots being scattered and random). There are many smaller square windows outlined with an orange fabric, while inside they are a solid brown. They're each outlined by stitching. There is a light fixture above the middle door drawn in pen. The door is in the middle and is also outlined in an orange fabric. There are two signs, each detailed and colorful. Upstairs was a 3.2 beer joint called The Upstairs. The bowling alley closed in the late seventies. Sonny and Ruthie Samuelson were the owners. After that Cindy Samuelson opened a feed store there and I bought feed for many years from her.

This quilt block shows a square building with a big round sign on top. The roof has a curvy bottom, and is a light brown. The big oval white sign on top has the word "Debbie's" in cursive and red. There's a red tail coming from the S and on it it says underneath, "Drive In" Below that is a light blue trapezoid that says, "Classic American Food." The building itself is a deep maroon. In lights, or dots, is the word, "Donuts." Below that is a yellow window, with a red "Open" sign vertical. Then there is a brighter red door to the left.

This is the first time that it has been a drive-in for decades. My first job was at that A&W when I was 14 years old. It was 1970 and I made $1.00 an hour to wash and fill root beer mugs. It was owned by Sodie and Marg Blevins.

They can print some really big stuff down there, like blueprints and banners. The same with shipping. They are our go-to for UPS and FedEx. I always smile when I go in there because Joseph, the owner, has humorous signs posted behind the checkout counter.

It’s a beautiful site and they have done some interesting and amazing things there. In the next few days we’ll check it out. This development has changed our little town and will continue to do so. It will be interesting to see what happens in the next few years.

Above the roof is a sign with lights around it (indicated by marks of pen) that says, "Motel" The roof is in a trapezoid shape and is a deep brown fabric. Underneath the roof on the yellow building are the words, "Notell Motel". Above the door it reads, "Office" and above the light tan window it reads, "No Vacancy". Each piece of fabric, including the tan window, is outlined by a duotone black and light tan stitching.

It is old but well maintained, clean and has flat screen TVs. They learned from their clientele that good TVs and reception are important. They have lots of people that come in at the same time every month or quarter.
