Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan Claire. This is day one hundred and fifty of that project.

This quilt block shows a railroad crossing signal and building against a light blue salmon-patterned background. The building next to the signal is tall and orange with a small red door. The signal itself is bright yellow with a large red two-holed button at the end of it indicating the light at the signal.

DING DING DING!

The train signal lets everyone know when to STOP!

Even our little train would cause a bad accident if a car didn’t stop. A car never wins in a collision with a train.

There are more than 5800 accidents every year in the U.S involving a train and a vehicle. This results in 600 deaths and 2,300 injuries.

Surprisingly, a fairly high number of them involve a car hitting a train.

Those usually occur at night where a crossing isn’t marked well or is not lit.

The rest, of course, are when a train hits a car on the tracks.

So… be careful, trains are big and heavy.
