Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan Claire. This is day one hundred and forty-one of that project.

This quilt block shows a purple or deep marron square truck whose bed is as tall and big as its cab. There is an orange warning light on top of the cab. The window of the cab is a light yellow. The bed has a yellow sign on the side with a logo that reads, "Ranch Creek Waste." There are two dark wheels on the bottom with buttons in the center of them to indicate the axle. This is all against a light blue background.

Waste management is a necessity of life.

I chose this local company’s logo because I liked it.

My little granddaughter got a trash truck for Christmas when she was two. She loves it and at 5 still plays with it.

I found out her mother was fascinated with trash trucks when she was a little girl and would get up before dawn on days of trash pick up to watch the trucks.

When they lived in Burbank, California three different trucks would pick up. One for trash, one for recycling and one for “green” trash for composting. One day a week Little Farmgirl could watch trucks all day.

We take our own recycling once a week and we have a transfer station for trash. Being on the farm we do our own composting.

This is a pretty boring narrative today but I think the truck is cute.
