This quilt block shows a very dark patch of green fabric in the bottom left corner indicating a patch of green grass. On top of the curved patch of grass is a small tree, and two large red flowers (shown using small red two-holed buttons). There is lighter green stitching indicating the flower stalks and on the edge of the grass. There is also white and black stitching around the tree. Against this is a darker blue salmon-patterned background.

Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan Claire. This is day one hundred and sixty-nine of that project.

Here is a new little patch of green.

Formerly a dirt lot, a group of boy scouts adopted it and planted grass, a baby tree, and a few big red flowers. Perhaps peonies or hyacinths.

A little spot of green is always welcome.

Something about growing things lifts people’s spirits and gives us a sense of renewal. I think it’s the earth reaching out and touching us.

Whether we realize it or not, I think it grounds us and makes us feel connected to our planet.
