This quilt block is a corner block. This means that a piece of green fabric representing grass stretches from the bottom left corner to the top right corner. What you can’t see in this picture is that this tree is on the bank of a swimming hole. If you stand on top of the tire you can swing out and jump in. I wish I could hear the laughter that has been generated by this old-fashioned style of fun.

This quilt block is a corner block. it has a dark green patch of grass in the bottom left corner. On that patch of grass is a basket. The basket is a brown fabric with a lot of pen marks on it in a hatched design to make it look like a weaved basket. Inside the basket are several vegetables. There are carrots, cucumbers, lettuce, and a red pepper each with corresponding colored fabric. Coming out from the center of the basket is a stick that's holding up a detailed sign that has written in black, "Harvest Sale."

I thought what could be more appropriate than a big harvest basket. So Imagine this basket full of all your favorite fresh veggies.

This block shows a patch of corner grass with the strong stitching in light green on its border. This patch of grass is two dark green fabrics, one a mound on top of the other in the bottom left corner. Standing on the mound is a duck, just about standing up flapping and stretching its wings. On the breast of the duck is a large white S written in with white pen. The duck is a several colors. The bill is a yellow fabric, the head a deep green fabric, the neck a white fabric, and the rest (beside the feet) is a brown fabric. The feet are orange fabric. These are all stitched together with a tight salt-and-pepper stitching to look very much like a duck standing up.

So here’s to you, Clark Kent of the duck world. Not sure if this fellow struts around the barnyard solving problems or touting his super-ness, but he’s sure a funny little delusional duck.

This quilt block is also a corner block. The corner is on the bottom right and is a large swatch of green fabric stretching from the bottom left corner to the upper right corner. On the curved surface of the grass is a mother hen, a cut out of brown fabric with pen marking and stitching on it to indicate the feathers and wing. Next to the mother hen are three small bright yellow patches of fabric shaped like baby chicks. Each baby chick has a little beak and eye in pen, and two tiny feet.

They have had nothing to eat or drink since hatching so for the first thing they are gently taken out of the box and their beaks are put in water so they have to take a little. All the farmhands help with this part and even Farmhand 4 is gentle enough.

This quilt block is a corner block. There is a patch of grass in the bottom right corner, stretching from the bottom left corner to the top right corner. It has a green bold stitching across its top. There are two chickens on the grass, one a brown patch of fabric, and one a black patch of fabric. The black patch is larger than the brown patch, and is the rooster. There are pen markings on each patch to indicate feathers and a wing. The brown patch is a hen that is looking back at the rooster.

I think roosters can be beautiful creatures. They can also be mean, aggressive, and hard on the hens. We don’t have roosters at Sisu Farm. That means, of course, that we don’t have fertilized eggs.

This quilt block is a corner block. There is a dark green grass patch in the bottom right of the square. On that grass patch are two jack-o-lanterns. The one in front is the traditional bright orange pumpkin with a spooky black face drawn on it with pen. There is also some thread or pen indicating a bit of a vine on it. Behind it is a tall squash that's more yellow. On it is a cuter spooky face with more rounded features. The top of this squash has some orange on it. This is all against a blue salmon-patterned background.

In Ireland, people started to carve turnips into scary faces to frighten away Jack. When the Irish immigrants came to the USA they started carving pumpkins. My favorite part? The roasted pumpkin seeds!

This quilt block is a corner block with a green section of fabric in the bottom right. This piece of fabric has a blanket stitching with equally deep green thread. Coming out of the green section and pointing towards the center is a tree. The trunk is dark brown, and the foliage is a bit cone shaped. It's the same green as the grass, and each piece is outlined in the same green stitching.

It’s grown to be quite a large tree with large branches. I’ve asked to have the branches trimmed twice so that my window can be seen from the street. There is kind of a love/hate relationship with my tree for me. I love how pretty it is and the shade it gives in the summer.
