Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan Claire. This is day eighty-nine of that project.

This quilt block shows a drive through carwash from the front. The canopy covering is in a maroon color and on the top is a sign in yellow on blue that reads, "Car Wash." Inside the red arch is a green car with silver threads going towards it from the structure indicating the water streams washing the car inside. Tiny buttons indicate the headlights of the car.

A drive through car wash!

Several years ago there was a drive-through car wash in town that was called “Teddy’s Toy Car Wash”. I never went there but thought it was a funny name. I think Ted built it as a toy for himself.

I had not ever been through a drive-through carwash until I was at least 50 years old. My friend, Kathy, went through one on a trip to Denver together.

It was a WOW moment for me.

She has a very clean car inside and out. I like to have a clean car. At this point anyone who has ridden in my car will be hysterical with laughter.

I am not good at this task.

I haul stuff to and from work every day and it doesn’t always (never) get completely empty. It’s like a poorly organized mobile storage unit. One time when my son and his wife came for a visit from Chicago they gave me a surprise, they detailed my car!

I was giddy beyond words.

Now spring is coming and one day I will clean my car inside and out. I will revel in it, I will pat myself on the back and smile every time I get into my car. I will try anew to “keep it this way” yet again.
