Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan Claire. This is day forty-one of that project.

This quilt block shows a blue background and a yellow house. The house has a bicycle in front and two rectangular windows. Above the dark door on the right is a circular window.

I really like this house. I imagine the round window is at the landing.

There is a window seat there that lets Sarah sit and read in the light and look out the round window. She can pretend she’s on a cruise ship if she wants with a porthole.

I love the little bicycle out front. Sarah bikes to work and errands all the time. She’s in her late twenties with a long blond ponytail.

Here is a confession about me. I can’t ride a bicycle. Even as a girl, I couldn’t. My parents gave me a very pretty purple bike. I was able to balance okay, but I hit things. Like, head on. I would come into the driveway and hit the back of my mother’s car every time. It was a struggle.

The bike and I were not friends.

I know people that love to ride and ride miles and miles. The last time I rode a bike was about nine years ago. My husband and I were on vacation in Mexico, and we were on an excursion. Part of the adventure was riding a bike through a wooded area. I hit a tree and was vaulted over the handlebars into a pile of limestone. I broke two ribs.

This was before any tequila was consumed.

Oh well.
