Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan Claire. This is day one hundred and one of that project.

This quilt block shows a round gazebo or rotunda like structure with a base, columns, and a green dome top. The green dome top has white stitching on it cutting it into sections and a ball at the top of the dome. The columns are all in a circle supporting the dome, and below and above the columns is additional stone with decoration or etchings into the stone. The stone itself is a light yellow. The whole thing is very classically Greek like.

A park rotunda is a magical place.

It can be a place for a small band during the 4th of July Picnic. Or a string quartet concert under the stars for a romantic evening, sitting on a blanket with wine and your honey.

I’ve seen some wonderful weddings in rotundas when I have vacationed in Mexico. I have taken some trips to all-inclusive resorts with my BFFs. They always have a rotunda.

Almost every day there will be a wedding on site. The ladies I go with love to watch the weddings from a safe distance and always get so excited when they glimpse the bride, groom, and wedding party. They love seeing the decorations and clothes.

They take pictures of the stranger’s wedding and everything.

Always makes me smile (and roll my eyes).
