Block-A-Day 36 – The Playground
Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan Claire. This is day thirty-six of that project.

A playground on the corner! Isn’t that fortunate for Paula and Shawn? Just two doors down, past the cute dog, is a playground.
There is an area for older kids (the over 8 set). But, the most prominent part caters to the under-8 crowds. There are tiny climbers, a sandbox, swings, and slides, all made for the youngest humans.
One of my grandchildren, whom we’ll call Farmhand 1, referred to all people as humans when he was little (ages 1-6). He was so into animals and talked about them with all the proper names that it seemed natural to call all people humans. One day when they still lived in the city, a city worker came to their door to tell them he was going to paint the curb.
Farmhand 1 answered the door and yelled to his mother, “There is a male human here to see you, mom.” I laughed a long time when I heard this because I could imagine the guy going home and telling his wife about the weird kid he met that day.
