Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan-Claire Mayfield. This is day three hundred and thirty-one of that project.

This quilt block shows a brown building made out of wooden slats. The slats are shown with yellow stitching. There is a door on the left side that is a very dark brown color. The roof is the same color and is slanted, with the top point of the roof to the right (the left side is longer than the right side). This little barn reminds me of the first barn my husband and I built.

My bedroom wasn’t finished at the time, and I admit to a bit of jealousy when the barn was completed better than the bedroom. We had just started raising sheep with a very small flock of ewes and a ram. Oh, we were excited.

We had the most spoiled sheep that first year. It makes me smile to think of us and those ewes.

When it came time for our “girls” to have their lambs, we would sit for hours with them in a lawn chair, being supportive during their labor and watching the lambs until they managed to nurse. What anxious nights those were.

But I learned so much during those days with the sheep.

It’s still a lovely little barn that now houses brooders for the chicks.
