Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan Claire. This is day twenty-four of that project.

This block shows a blue structure with a boat on top. The boat has a brown wooden hull, and looks a bit like Noah's ark with a red roof. On the boat and building big letters read, "Ken's Wooden Boat School."

Today’s block is dedicated to my friend Ken, who put countless hours into a wooden boat school in Grand Lake, CO.

It was a wonderful experience for a group of high school students who learned how to fix and refinish wooden boats. Bringing them back to their days of glory. He also taught them to sail.

Experiences like that are what make our country strong. Building self-esteem through hard work and seeing positive results of your work. Having pride in what you do.

I can say after being a 4-H leader for 30 years there isn’t anything like actually producing something you are proud of to give you a sense of self-worth.

Thank you to people like Ken.
