Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan Claire. This is day one hundred and fifteen of that project.

This quilt block has a light orange building in FRONT of the fence that appeared in the previous two blocks. The fence is a muddied brown with rounded edges that juts up about a third of the way of the block. The light orange building has a very dark triangle roof, and two long lighter orange windows on either side. There is a deep maroon/purple curved door below in the center. On the front of the building right under the roof are the words, "Middle Park High."

Middle Park High School.

The next couple of blocks represent high school.

Juniors and Seniors are in this building.

I remember those years when I was there and when my sons were there. When the high school was first established in Granby it was called Union High.

My uncles on my mothers side were in the first graduating classes. I think there were maybe eight in the class. It later was named Middle Park High School.

It was originally where Granby Elementary is now. All that remains of that time is the gymnasium. Everything else has been built around it.

Both of my parents graduated from here too.

My parents were married at semester when she was a senior and by the time she received her diploma she was carrying me.

My late husband was the valedictorian of our class and my son decided when he was first starting school that he was going to follow in his dad’s footsteps. So he held that goal for twelve years. When he graduated he was indeed valedictorian.

I asked him why it was so important to him and he told me because he was going to give a speech and everyone would have to listen.

And they did!
