Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan Claire. This is day one hundred and forty-two of that project.

We have a great volunteer fire department!

Our firehouse is very lovely, much more complete than this block.

District #1 is responsible for 150 square miles in the Central Rocky Mountains. The volunteer department was established in 1939.

Our district was formed in 1951. They do wildfires, vehicle accidents, and hazmat responses. They handle about 160 calls a year.

Last year they helped fight the Troublesome Fire that destroyed 350 homes.

The number would be much higher if it weren’t for fire departments like this one.

Thanks to our volunteers!
