Block-A-Day 9 – The Needle

Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan Claire. This is day nine of that project. After this the first round is completed. Soon, I will post the quilt so far.

This quilt block features building going around a corner with buttons depicting flowers in the bottom right. The space needle, a tall building with a particular shape, sits next to a coffee shop.

I like this little block. It’s quirky with its funny little buildings.

We have a little office building next to the building that is reminiscent of the space needle. This monument is a fantastic building: a fun restaurant that maybe rotates. The beautiful views of the town and country would be terrific.

I also love the little coffee kiosk. I can see people driving through for their morning coffee.

Notice the sweet little buttons that make up the flowers and night stars? I get them from Just Another Button Company. They have so many fun buttons, every color, and size, even handmade ones. I plan to use as many of these little buttons as I can in this quilt.

This quilt block shows an orange and red scooter like vehicle. It is shaped somewhat like a cross between a vespa and a motorcycle. This vehicle actually has three wheels however, with the bottom of the third wheel visible under the middle. The seat is red, and tehre are two handlebars. The taxi is a bright yellow fabric, with light gray fabrics for the windows, windshield, and fenders. There is a light yellow sign on top that has the word Block-A-Day 155 – Vinnie’s TAXI This quilt block shows an ice cream truck. The truck is very yellow with lots of writing on it. We are looking at it from the side. There are two big black wheels with two large colored two-holed buttons for the axles. One button is pink and one is orange. The truck is tall, and has a side window where orders can be placed. The windows is a lighter yellow and has writing on it with all the flavors. Next to the window are decals of ice cream cones. On the side of the truck under the window are the words, "Cones Sundaes Shakes Malts - non-dairy too!" The top of the truck has a white sign that reads, "Mary's Ice Cream - Yum."
