Block-A-Day 192 – Bzzzzzz
Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan-Claire Mayfield. This is day one hundred and ninety-two of that project.

Bzzzzzzz. This is a sound that brings mixed reactions in the gardens.
Some people are allergic to bee stings, and that is an alarming sound. Others are just plain scared and freak out, doing an odd “bee dance” of their own, usually accompanied by shrieks of “get it away aaaaaahh.”
Then there are people like me that are comforted when I hear the sound of a bee.
It’s reassuring to me that the world will most likely go on another day.
Without bees, we would be in deep trouble. They are essential to our food supply.
I learned 91 foods that humans consume need to be non-wind pollinated. That means without the bee to play matchmaker between the male and female plants, our diets would be very bleak indeed.
If fruits like apples and peaches had to depend on human pollination, those crops would be outrageously expensive.
So next time you hear the buzz of our little winged friends, remember that apples don’t cost $16 a piece because of them.
