Block-A-Day 22 – The Post

This pattern was created about 6 years ago and I was just thinking about how the volume of written communication through the mail has gone down. I’m sure this is true for New Zealand. I wonder if that means fewer post boxes? I like to imagine all the love letters that have passed through these quaint post boxes.

Today’s block is a “caravan” dealership. Another one of those references to names from the commonwealth nations. I talked to someone tonight that visited the south island of New Zealand and said there were little campers like this everywhere.

This block made me think of my husband too because he treated our town’s water for 32 years. I thought this would make a perfect water treatment building. This is a fanciful little shop and I can imagine all kinds of tables being made here. My Grandmother had some lovely things, among them several little tables.

Block-A-Day 16 – The Grove

This little corner park has a little grove of trees. I can imagine walking paths taking a shortcut through the park. It would have shade in the summer and I can see people kicking off their sandals to feel the cool grass between their toes. Mothers out to shop pushing strollers stop there with snacks for their kids.

Block-A-Day 13 – The Warehouse

Today we have a warehouse. Not a super exciting building. However, it has an interesting shaped roof, rounded like a Quonset hut set on top. This would allow for offices on a third floor perhaps accessible by an elevator that can carry people or freight from different floors to the loading dock in the back.
