There is a nip in the air and we all know what that means. I don’t want to even say it out loud (summer is waning).
September is Jelly Roll month. September 18 is actually national Jelly Roll Day. We have lots of patterns that work with Jelly Rolls. So be thinking about what you might be able to do with that Jelly Roll that’s hanging around.
Christmas is just around the corner, we are busy finding projects and making Holiday Quilt kits.
On Wednesday, September 1st at 1:30 PM we’ll have [UFO], or Unfinished Objects. This is a great time to bring in a stray project or something from class and complete it.
On Tuesday, September 7th at 5:30 PM, as well as Wednesday, September 8th at 1:30 PM in honor of Jelly Roll Month, bring in or purchase a Jelly Roll and we’ll help you figure out what to do with it (like this Malaga Jelly Roll quilt on the left). There is just a $5 fee for this class and you bring your own materials.
On Tuesday, September 14th at 5:30 PM, as well as Wednesday, September 15th at 1:30 PM we’ll have another [UFO], or Unfinished Objects. You can finish your jelly roll project or any other stray project.
On Tuesday, September 14th and 28th at 10:30 AM there will be a Wool Appliqué class.
On Tuesday, September 21st at 5:30 PM and Wednesday, September 22nd at 1:30 PM we will continue our monthly series “Swatter Sweaters”. These are really cute little projects that dress up the ordinary fly swatter. These Swatter Sweaters can also be made into a quilt, which many people are also doing. At the end of the year, you will have twenty-four 6.5” squares. This month we’re getting a jump on Halloween with some spooky patterns including a jack-o’-lantern and a bat. Sewing machine and basic tools required. Cost: $15.
If you are participating in the Zoom meeting for Annie’s Fiction Stitch-Along (Murder By The Block), the next meeting is on Wednesday, September 15th at 6:30 PM.
On Tuesday, September 28th at 5:30 PM, as well as Wednesday, September 29th at 1:30 PM we’ll be making a Booklet pouch. A great way to organize, store, and transport all your stuff, this pouch has four see-through zippered pockets on the inside, and the whole thing zips up to close. It comes in two sizes: 6” x 8” and 9” x 11”. You’ll need a sewing machine, basic sewing tools, and your own fabric. We supply everything else (zippers, interfacing, vinyl) Class fee is $25 for the small size, and $30 for the larger size.
There is no bag day this month.
I’m continuing to do a block a day of the very interesting That Town And Country Quilt by Susan-Claire Mayfield. I’m having so much fun with my block of the day, honestly, more than I thought I would. My quilt is growing all the time. I post a new block along with details and thoughts every day on my blog. I hope you visit my blog and check out my blocks and commentary. Join in on the fun at https://tinasfabricnook.com/blog/ (or click “blog” in the top menu of the store site at https://tinasfabricnook.com)
