Block-A-Day 7 – The Lunch Dash

Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan Claire. This is day seven of that project. Soon the first round will be completed, whereupon I will post the quilt so far.

Today we continue with the city square going around the block with another tiny park owned by the city. These are office buildings with lots of workers arriving early.

This little lunch place is what caught my imagination. It looks like a building that’s been there a long time. You are surprised at how far the building goes back when you walk in the door. I see a long lunch counter on one side, probably with a soda fountain. On the other side are two-person booths with vinyl upholstery.

Above the booths are themed posters of flashy cars from the 1960s. Behind the counter is a guy in a white hat with a red stripe, and he can make a milkshake cup spin in the air. He’s funny.

On the wall is a giant chalkboard with the menu written. The food is excellent and fast. The place is packed at lunchtime. I wish I were sitting at the counter right now with a cheeseburger and a chocolate malt.

*sigh*
