Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan Claire. This is day twenty-nine of that project.

This is undoubtedly a charming general store. It has everything you might need as a local resident and everything you might want as a visitor.

I think Ms. Smith carries local crafts, produce, and basic necessities. When I saw this block, I was thinking about a store in Rand, Colorado, that is simply called The Rand Store. It has the most unusual gifts and books you can imagine. I love to shop there. This is extraordinary because Rand’s official population is 4. It is located on Highway 125, headed north.

The name of this store is Smith’s. Did you know that Smith is the most common surname in New Zealand? It’s also the most common surname in Australia, Great Britain, Canada, Europe, and of course, the United States.

Actually, Smith is the name I was born with, and the establishment year on the General Store is the year I was born!
