Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan Claire. This is day sixty-four of that project.

This quilt block shows a grassy coerner int he bottom left with some short bushes/trees on it. The bushes/trees have very short brown trunks and green tops with a spiral thread stitched around inside.

This is a little different foliage in a corner lot than we’ve seen. It’s a hedge.

So in my story, this hedge is part of a hedge maze. You know, like the one where Jack Nicholson froze to death in Stanley Kubrick’s rendition of Stephen King’s novel The Shining.

Our hedge, however, is a fun, kid-friendly little maze that is easy to crawl out under or see over if need be. This would be a fun place to play Cowboys and Indians, Cops and Robbers, or Hide and Seek. One can hear squeals, giggles, and whoops coming from the hedge on warm sunny days.

It’s not tall enough for teenagers or adults to hide in, so the “littles” are right at home and feel safe playing here.

This quilt block shows a patch of smooth grass along the bottom with a deep green fabric, and then trees that look like light green blocks coming up from it. There are three trees with very short orange-brown trunks ranging from short to pretty tall. This is all against a gray salmon or fish like background fabric. Against a gray background is a patch of grass in the bottom right, lighter than some of the other blocks before. They are quite the details drawings.Block-A-Day 196 – The Monarch Butterfly This quilt block shows four low shrubs all in a row at the bottom of the block. Each chrub is a square green topiary on top of a dark trunk. The trunk and topiary have light green stitching on them, the darker green topiary itself having a big swirl stitch on each.
