Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan Claire. This is day sixty-three of that project.

Doc Susie (Susan Anderson MD) was the only physician in Fraser Valley for 49 years.

She started practicing medicine here in 1907. The people here that so depended on her nicknamed her Doc. Susie.

She was the Coroner for Grand County in 1904 and investigated many of the deaths associated with constructing the Moffat tunnel. She tended to a range of patients and medical conditions, including childbirth, skiing injuries, and particularly pneumonia during the 1918 flu pandemic.

Although most of her work involved making house calls to patients, she never owned a horse or car, and she was usually paid in food or firewood rather than money.

No wonder everyone loved her!
