This quilt block shows a stately train tunnel entrance. On each side is a column and at the top of each column a year is etched (drawn) onto the stone: 1923 and 1927. Coming out of the dark tunnel is an orange locomative engine. You can see it from the front, and it's bright headlight is a large clear button with no visible holes. Above the train, on the stone arch are the words,

It is named after David Moffat, a railroad developer and entrepreneur. Unfortunately, it wasn’t finished before Moffat’s death but it was his vision as early as 1901 that made the project possible.

This quilt block shows a brown building with three golden windows. Two vertically on the right side, and one above the darker brown door. The roof is a simple angled roof. Under the rood if a sign in cursive that says,

She was actually the Coroner for Grand County in 1904 and investigated many of the deaths associated with the construction of the Moffat tunnel. She tended to a range of patients and medical conditions including childbirth, skiing injuries, and particularly pneumonia during the 1918 flu pandemic.
