Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan-Claire Mayfield. This is day two hundred and ninety-six of that project.

This quilt block shows a white square in the middle on top of a salmon-patterned blue background. The square in the middle has a pen drawing on it. The drawing shows a mountain range at the top, with fields and trees below. O the last line of ground are a chicken, a pig, and a highland cow. Below this elaborate black and white drawing are the words "SISU FARMS" in all caps in a greenish-blue color.

I live at Sisu Farm.

My son, daughter-in-law, and four farmhands do all the work and it’s a growing business.

Why SISU? Or what is SISU? It’s a Finnish word that doesn’t have a direct translation into English.

It means perseverance, hardiness, bravery, resilience, and grit. I think it fits what they’re doing really well.

You will learn a lot about their operation in the coming days.
