Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan-Claire Mayfield. This is day two hundred and twenty-seven of that project.

This quilt block shows a putting green on a golf course. There are two trees to either side of the putting green with black trunks and dark green fabric foliage. The putting green itself is the same dark green fabric, but in the center of the oval shaped surface is a big black pole sticking into a hole. At the top of the pole is a little red flag with the number 1 penned in white. Near the hole in the green is a white dot, also penned in. That's a golf ball,
Marc's golf ball.

“OHH! ALMOST!”

That’s what Marc said when his ball came so close to the hole and didn’t go in. Marc, always being a cup half full kind of guy shrugged and thought, “Oh well, I have 17 more chances to put it in the cup.”

Marc is very new to the game of golf and is not good at all. In fact on this very first hole he is several strokes over par. Doesn’t matter to Marc.

Competition has never been very important to him and he’s playing golf for fun and because his wife said he had to get a hobby. Since he retired he’s been wanting to “help” her a little too much with everything.

The day he came into her sewing room and started giving her suggestions about the latest quilt she was working on was the day before they bought Marc his first set of golf clubs.
