Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan Claire. This is day seventy-two of that project.

A litter bin. So useful in the park.

I have a funny little story about one of my grandchildren, Farmhand 2, regarding litter.

They were still living in California on his fourth birthday. He planned his own party. Everything happens in a park in Burbank. Farmhand 2 decided his party activity would be to pick up all the trash in the park.

The parents of the party guests thought this was great; however, the party guests themselves could have been more enthusiastic. Actually, there were some tears. The birthday boy had a good time, and of course, there were treats as well.

On another occasion, Farmhand 3 was with her mom, having hauled pigs to a processor and wanted to go to a playground. This was last summer when everything was closed down. So that wasn’t going to be a possibility.

When they pulled into a restaurant parking lot to get something to eat, she hopped out of the truck and said, “That’s okay, I’ll just pick up trash instead of going to a playground.”

Quirky kids.
