Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan Claire. This is day seventy-one of that project.

This quilt block shows a store front of a bookstore. The building's decorative roof is shaped in such a way that it makes the building look like an open book. Under the roof lining is a sign that says, "Cozy Afternoon Books." Underneath that is a picture of several volumes of books of different colors on a shelf, each with a title that is a major genre, such as non-fiction, classic, sci-fi, and romance. Underneath that is a maroon door, and a sign that has a paper up that reads, "Book Signing Today, Open."

If you love to read is there anything better than a good book in front of a cozy fire, a snuggly blanket, and your feet up? That’s what the owner of this bookstore was thinking when she decided on the name Cozy Afternoon Books.

I love to read. I have always been an avid reader. A perfect vacation for me is being on the beach with 4 or 5 books, a sunhat, and a cocktail. I read, wade in the water, and doze.

A few years ago my children bought me a Kindle. My thumbs were starting to ache to hold the books open (sewist’s thumb). I thought it was very thoughtful but wondered how much I’d use it. Oh my goodness, I am on the fourth one having worn out the first three.

Anytime I am reading non-fiction I use it (every day). Of course, I still appreciate books and read out of them every day to the grandchildren.

Right now we are reading Tom Sawyer.
