Block-a-Day 185 – Garden Compost & Mulch
Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan Claire. This is day one hundred and eighty-five of that project.

This cute little block reminds me of my friend Clare.
Clare loves to garden.
An amazing quilter, she once told me if she had to choose between quilting and gardening, she would choose gardening. One of her best ongoing projects is her compost pile. She loves her compost pile.
This brings me to why this particular block reminded me of her. This garden fork is the perfect tool for turning compost and for working it into a garden bed.
Compost needs to be turned every so often, and a fork works better than a shovel. It helps keep the compost loose and aerated.
A shovel can cause some compaction if you are not careful or if it’s a little too wet.
This is a challenging year for her to garden because we are having a drought. However, her garden is doing okay because of the other practice she does.
She mulches.
Happy gardening.
