If birds have access to water they will take 2 or 3 baths a day. They bathe to clean themselves of parasites, ticks, lice, mites and fleas that can eat their feathers and cause infections and disease.
She can go into her garden in her big hat and gloves with a harvest basket and harvest the vegetables for her family’s table in solitude or with a small helper or two.
An amazing quilter, she once told me if she had to choose between quilting and gardening she would choose gardening. One of her best ongoing projects is her compost pile. She loves her compost pile.
This VERY cute bird hangs out here looking for handouts. So, there might be a bird deposit on the bench. Perhaps this is the bird from the tree outside Lena and Angie’s house. It’s so colorful it’s probably the male. I was so excited the morning before last. I saw a bald eagle at my house!
