This quilt block shows a very orange church building. The steeple of the church building is tall and has a triangular top. Next to it is the long roof of the sanctuary. Both roofs are very dark brown, along with the door. Along the side the of the steeple written in white pen are the word,s "Cathedral" and a bright orange patch of fabric indicating a window. To the right of the rounded door are more bright orange rectangular windows and above them the words "Performance Hall" penned in white. This is all against a blue salmon-patterned background.

The windows were broken and the roof leaked. An arts group that wanted a venue for the performing arts saw potential in this grand old building. They did lots of fundraising and then they managed to get a patron that had very deep pockets. After many hours of volunteer work and some paid structural work, it was ready to shine.

This quilt block shows an orange tent. It's a simple set up tent with two poles holding up a center rail that a blanket is laid over. There are brown steel toed red wings drawn in pen to the right side of the entrance of the tent. There's also a fishing pole above them drawn in. At the entrance of the tent is a camouflage sleeping bag rolled up (with pen markings for the camouflage). Next to the that is a red tacklebox that is drawn in with red pen. And finally to the left next to the orange tent is drawn in a lantern. This is all against a blue salmon-patterned background.

These boots remind me of the ones my husband wore every day. He always wore steel toe Red Wings. The only time I ever saw him in anything else was when we were on vacation at the beach. He was barefoot then. Everyone who knew him well used to kid him about his “Lil’ Abner” boots.

This quilt block shows a sign like you'd see on the side of the road. The sign is between two dark brown poles. The sign itself is a dark yellow with black pen writing on it. There is a logo with mountains, trees, and what looks like a river. Next to the logo in black pen are the words, "River Run." Under both the logo and the larger words are the words, "RV • Glamping • Villas". Each piece of fabric is outlined with a white colored stitching. This is all against the standard blue salmon-patterned background.

Then on June 4, 2004 a wingnut named Marvin Heemeyer came down main street in Granby in an armored bulldozer, demolishing buildings as he went. A political dispute was at the root of this rampage and because Casey was part of our town government Gambles was one of his targets.
