The coffee is great and the food is delicious. There is a shark mount on the wall! License plates from far away places that the owner has visited. A very eclectic decor and a sundrenched room in the back with tables and chairs for meetings or gatherings or just large party breakfasts.
My lifelong friend, Nona, had the cutest little gift shop a few years ago. She found such unique things that were simply irresistible to me. She and her daughter made beautiful jewelry (some of my favorite pieces) and she found little (I mean really little) cute little figures and characters.
He’s an amazing artist and a very nice guy. Howard is a wonderful painter and sculptor. You can see his bronze sculptures all over. I personally think a lot of Grand Lake’s charm is from Howard’s sculptures.
When my children were little they all went to a preschool a couple of days a week to play with other littles. Because they were there I volunteered and it was fun and interesting to see how different all the little people were.
This is named after a cafe across the street from my shop. It has tables with umbrellas on the sidewalk. Originally the building it is in was a small department store called The Villager. Other businesses have been in there including the Fabric Nook when the previous owner had it.
My good friend, Bert Shilling’s grandfather was E.R. Thorne. He came to Cowdrey, Colorado in 1903. He purchased the first general store from Frank Lyons, his uncle. He built the current store in 1927.
When was the last time you saw a Cherry Mash, a Zero bar or a Mars bar? Or how about those little root beer candies that look like little barrels?
Dr. Sue is the presiding vet now but for many years Dr. Larry Peterson was there to take care of whatever animal problem that I had. He did everything. He mercifully and sympathetically ended the lives of several beloved 4 legged friends. He also came to the farm to help with a variety of oddball things my livestock got into.
I must admit that the big lure for me is spending time with my friend and that’s why my destination is Stromsburg. Dana and her husband did a wonderful renovation of the building which used to be the hospital when Bob, Dana’s husband, was young.
Our Chamber of Commerce / information center in our town has a cool logo and I wanted to capture that on my building. The Chamber works hard to bring people to Granby and helps business on main street.
