Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan Claire. This is day eighty-three of that project.

This quilt block is simple. It has a gray multi-shaded background with a triangular traffic sign that reads,

SLOW down.

This sign goes along with last night’s Road Work Ahead sign. Slow down, and we won’t make as many mistakes, fall as often, or say the wrong thing.

When a problem or puzzling situation presents itself, most of us plunge forward, trying anything we can come up with. Doing something is better than doing nothing, right?

Sometimes. And sometimes it causes us more time and more effort.

When my husband faced a situation like that, he would just sit there. Sometimes I didn’t think he even heard me, and I would feel impatient, wanting some action on his part.

I finally said at one point, “What are you waiting for?”

He looked at me and said, “Sometimes you just have to sit and think for five *@#x!!+ minutes!”

My sons have told me he gave them the same advice on many occasions, and it was the best advice he ever gave them.

So it’s okay to give yourself a few minutes to think.

This quilt block shows a house in front of a mountain range. The mountain range is a dark brown with a light brown outline stitching. The house itself looks like two barns attached to each other in the middle. It is a tan brown and has pen markings on it to indicate the metal roof, garage doors, windows and porch. This is all against a blue salmon-patterned background.Block-A-Day 268 – Rob’s Camping trip This quilt block shows a large dark gray building that takes up most of the block. The roof is the darkest gray and is square and flat. Underneath that is a very big sign that's yellow. It reads, Block-A-Day 276 – Scott’s Water Plant This quilt block shows a border colie facing to the left. It's front paws are spread out and it's head is down like it's going to play. The tongue is hanging out of the mouth. The patterns on the dog match the black and white patterns of most border collies. This is done with a piece of black fabric and a piece of white fabric underneath. It really is quite an accurate border coolie, with tiny stitching outlining everything.Block-A-Day 338 – Kelly The Wonder Dog
