Block-A-Day 312 – The House That Scott Built
It’s a big log house. He dug the hole and after the basement was poured I painted tar on the outside. We raised and set the logs and beams ourselves with nothing more than a block and tackle.

When my children were little they all went to a preschool a couple of days a week to play with other littles. Because they were there I volunteered and it was fun and interesting to see how different all the little people were.
When I was 15 my high school taught driver’s education. A regular class we went to every day for several weeks. We had a Driver’s Ed car that had pedals on both sides.
When the littlest was digging down he could get where we could only see the bottom half of him sticking out. A garden hose was always on hand with an on/off so they could have lakes, moats and floods.
When my son, Asa, turned sixteen he bought a 1978 ford pickup from his grandfather. He learned to drive in it and so did his younger brother. It was light green and got terrible gas mileage. And they loved it.
When my husband was faced with a situation like that he would just sit there. Sometimes I didn’t think he even heard me and I would feel impatient wanting some action on his part. I finally said at one point “What are you waiting for?” He looked at me and said “Sometimes you just have to sit and think for 5 *@#x!!+ minutes!.”
