Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan Claire. This is day forty-eight of that project.

This quilt block shows an orange building from a side angle with a dark blue roof. There are two tall windows on the side and a brown door on front. Across the side and the front is the word, "Grange."

The Grange building has been there for a very long time. Before this part of town was developed and there were just a few houses spaced far apart, the majority of this area was farmland. The farm bureau and extension were housed in this building then.

Today, this space is still used as a meeting place for stock growers, land management, and 4-H meetings. It’s also where chili cook-offs happen and the local sewing guild meets. All kinds of meetings, gatherings, and classes are held here.

Last summer there was a casual wedding reception here with a huge picnic buffet. Because the Grange owns the lot next door there is room for games of horseshoes and space for the kids to play.

Next summer there is a series of fundraisers planned because they have decided the old building needs a little updating.

I’d love to see the inside.
