Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan-Claire Mayfield. This is day two hundred and eighty-four of that project.

This quilt block shows a square building of brown and yellow. In the upper left is a large sign that protrudes farther than the building's edge. It's white and on it are the words, "Thrift Store" in black pen. Underneath that is "Mountain Family Center." The building has a middle partition that is dark brown with lines of stitching going down it. Tehre is a slanted board across that right above the door in the middle. The upper part of the building is filled in with pen to indicate a texture. Below that on either side of the door and partition are black windows with white pen lines on them. Everything is outlined with an orange stitching.

Mountain Family Center is a wonderful resource for our community.

They have a top-notch thrift store and a very active, much-needed food bank. Our quilt guild donates lots of quilts, from baby quilts to full-size bed quilts.

Every Christmas, we are allowed to provide quilts and gifts to a local family. It’s really a highlight for our group.

The center got a facelift last year, and it really looks great.
