Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan-Claire Mayfield. This is day two hundred and fifty-nine of that project.

This quilt block shows a teal sign supported by two brown poles. The sign has a large sun in yellow-orange fabric in the top left corner, and another sun, more gold, in the bottom right corner like a badge. The writing on the sign is black and is a combination of cursive and print, that reads, "Sunny Vista Retirement Community."

Sunny Vista is the kind of (fictitious) retirement community I might like to live in.

Created for people over 50, it is beautiful, with wonderful, gorgeous flowers and landscapes.

Friendly people that don’t spend all their time watching what other people are doing and criticizing.

Games and classes are offered every day at the community center. There’s even a pool with a bar. It has comfortable townhouses that are well-maintained and have a terrific view.

You might have noticed that the sign’s font is a hybrid of print and cursive.

The soft curves of the cursive appeal to the residents, but the print is so their grandchildren can read it since cursive is not being taught anymore.

Regretfully, I doubt I will ever be a resident of such an idyllic place.

This quilt block shows two building side by side. They are really one building made up of two townhomes. Each townhome has a black triangular roof. Below that is a beige-teal square building. The fronts of the townhomes are mirror images of each other. Each one has two upper floor square yellow windows (bordered by brown thread, and one lower floor yellow square window. On the fabric written in blue pen is a logo showing trees, mountains, and a river, and the words, "General Store" along the outside circumference.Block-A-Day 275 – River Run’s General Store This quilt block shows a large just about square building. The main building material is a single large duotone polka dotted fabric (the dots being scattered and random). There are many smaller square windows outlined with an orange fabric, while inside they are a solid brown. They're each outlined by stitching. There is a light fixture above the middle door drawn in pen. The door is in the middle and is also outlined in an orange fabric. There are two signs, each detailed and colorful.
