Block-A-Day 174 – A Fairy Garden

Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan Claire. This is day one hundred and seventy-four of that project.

This quilt block shows four toadstools. These are the standard psychoactive toadstools featured everywhere, with orange stalks, red tops, and white spots. One toadstool is much taller and thinner than the others. There are also two stalks of grass and on either side of the toadstools.

Toadstools!

These iconic toadstools are Amanita Muscaria, also known as fly agaric. They are psychoactive, meaning they are psychedelic if you consume them. They are considered toxic, but you would have to eat a lot for them to be lethal.

That said, they are sometimes confused with another variety called Conocybe. That variety is exceptionally toxic.

On the other hand, I like this block. I think the mushrooms and grasses are whimsical and fairy-like.

It makes me think about the planters I have out front of the store. There are purple fairy lights among the blossoms.

These mushrooms belong in a fairy garden.
