Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan Claire. This is day one hundred and five of that project.

The trunk is a brown fabric, the grass a green splotchy fabric, and the greenery at the top a dark green with stitches to indicate cloud like bulges.

This is a giant tree!

A shade tree big enough for a shady nap underneath or a picnic lunch.

An excellent tree for climbing high. And what a great tree for a house among the branches. I always thought that would be fun.

I was not a tree climber because there were no trees close to our house (and that whole afraid of heights thing kind of got in the way).

Another little story about Farmhand 1:

In California, they had a tree in front of their house. It wasn’t a giant tree like this one but big enough for climbing and tall enough to climb out of reach.

Mom, Dad, Farmhand 2 and 3 were ready to go to a meet-up. Farmhand 1 decided he didn’t want to go and climbed the tree. So there it was, everyone strapped in the van except Dad and #1.

They were at a standoff.

Dad talked to him for some time with no advance. He finally told him that the entire family would not be held hostage by a little boy in a tree and ordered him out.

That did it.

Isn’t parenthood fun?
