Block-A-Day 202 – Petey And Bob, The Mollusk
Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan-Claire Mayfield. This is day two hundred and two of that project.

This is Bob.
Bob is a giant mollusk that belongs to a little boy named Petey. He is out for an excursion in the garden today.
Bob may seem like an odd pet, but they actually make excellent pets. They don’t bark, shed, or claw the furniture. Bob is about 5” long.
They enjoy garden refuse like cucumber peels and radish leaves. They will make funny faces with their eye stalks when eating something tasty.
They enjoy taking warm baths and showers and are quite affectionate. Bob likes his shell rubbed and also around his head and neck.
They are social animals, so having more than one is ideal. Petey has four snails in total: Bob, Carol, Ted, and Alice.
Because Petey lives in an ideal climate, his little “herd” lives in an enclosure in his backyard.
Bob and the gang recognize Petey by his smell, as they have very poor eyesight. He has rocks in their enclosure that contain chalk. They eat the chalk because they need it for their shells. Snails can actually gnaw through limestone.
You would then think their bite would hurt, but it feels like a tiny brush scraping your finger.
They have thousands of teeth but no force behind them.
All of Petey’s snails like to crawl up in his hand and rub against his thumb, cuddle down and take a nap.
