This quilt block shows a big evergreen tree. Each section from bottom to top is a lighter shade of green, starting with a dark green fabric. Each section, shaped a bit like a floppy triangle, is outlined by a dark green thread, including the trunk at the bottom which is a brown fabric. This is all against a blue salmon-patterned background.

Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan Claire. This is day one hundred and seventy-one of that project.

A giant evergreen tree!

This one is really spectacular during the holiday season. It’s the official That Town Christmas tree.

Hundreds of lights cover it, along with sparkling pine cones and glittery snowflakes.

Every year there is a town party to light the tree. Everyone comes, and hot cocoa is served with homemade donuts and popcorn. One of the farms with Clydesdale horses brings a big wagon for hay rides.

People sing Christmas carols and the holiday spirit really heats up. Santa and a couple of elves are on hand to hear the children’s wishes.

When our sons were growing up, before everyone decided gluten was bad, we made homemade raised and glazed donuts every year on Christmas Eve. We usually made 7 or 8 dozen.

They were delicious!
