This quilt block shows a corner block in the quilt. This means there is a patch of grass in the lower right corner with two tall skinny trees on it pointing up towards the upper left corner of the block. Next to the trunks of the trees are cute little pink and red tiny round buttons to signify flowers.

Block-A-Day 81 – Italian Cypress Trees

Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan Claire. This is day eighty-one of that project.

The interesting trees on this corner lot are Italian Cypress. They are lovely, tall, and stately.

They are an unusual planting in That Town. It seems an anonymous donor gave the money to the town council with the specific instructions that Italian Cypresses be planted.

He had taken his bride on their honeymoon to Italy many years before.

She loved the countryside and was very taken with the tall skinny trees.

That was a long time ago, but when they sit on their porch swing and look at the trees, they think of Tuscany, and the lovely time they spent there.
