Today I continue my quest in creating and posting one block a day of the fabulous That Town And Country Quilt by the lovely Susan Claire. This is day seventy-six of that project.

This quilt block shows a square light orange building with a rhombus shaped dark blue roof. There's a dark door in the middle and a yellow window on either side. A sign on a post stuck in the ground to the left of the building reads, "Sell It Quick Realty." Above the door and on the roof is a sign that says, "Model Home" in capital red letters. There's a big mock sign that looks like it's stuck on a post that's in the roof that reads, "Open House Today!"

When I was in the 6th grade we lived in Denver for a couple of years.

During that time my mother’s favorite thing to do was to go to open houses. So at least twice a week we loaded up and went to look at houses. She was fascinated by the way the houses were staged and the colors they used.

She was a small-town girl that lived in a farmhouse that had been carved out of an old service station.

The model homes were so modern and the decorating was cutting edge. I think she was enchanted by the experience.

I’m glad she had the opportunity to do that. She’s been gone for 30 years and I wish I could take her to an open house this weekend.
